Our founder, Jonathan Pilch, is a childhood cancer survivor. He was treated for leukemia here in Richmond. His family was fortunate — good insurance, an income that held on one earner, and a mom, Pamela, who stayed at his side through every single day of treatment.
Many families aren't as lucky. To afford treatment for their child's cancer, they go into debt — debt that outlasts the diagnosis and shadows them long after the fight is won.
We don't like that. So we decided to do something about it.
The Pamela Project raises money for families carrying medical debt from childhood cancer treatment, and pays creditors directly. It's named for the kind of love that refuses to let go — and turns it into action for families who need a Pamela of their own.
The Pamela Project is based in Richmond, VA, where Jonathan was treated as a child. Richmond has a strong community, and that community is a major source of strength for our organization.
We exist to erase the medical debt childhood cancer treatment leaves behind — nothing diluted, nothing sideways.
Families are fighters, not charity cases. We stand with them, never above them.
Every dollar tracked, every family seen. Our books are open to anyone who wants to check.
